PROPER DRAINAGE
 | All swimming pools need proper drainage around the pool.
|
To prevent problems that can be caused when there are heavy rains or when
the pool is situated in an area that has high water table. Ground water can build up
a tremendous amount of pressure under a pool which can cause the liner to
"float" up off of the bottom. This pressure can even cause a concrete pool
to pop out of the ground. Insignificant amounts may come and go and not cause any
problems as the water retreats but in many cases, the pressure can cause the liner to tear
around fittings or to bring about a seam separation which allows even more water behind
the liner. This may cause the liner to come out of the "track" at the top
of the wall which can be very difficult to put back in place. To prevent potential
problems, first make certain that your backyard has proper drainage away from the pool and
that roof rain gutters keep water away from the pool. Don't allow your pool to
overflow. If your pool liner regularly "floats" your pool dealer can
install a sump pump near the pool to alleviate the problem.
